I'll be honest: This article makes some good points. I don't necessarily agree with everything, I but I don't immediately discount it, either. I'm going to review some notes and do some fact-checking.

One major problem I had with the article was the claim that after five years, employees would basically be dumped into the exchange. This is not supported by the facts. The bill does two separate things, which I think the author confused. First, it sets up what is known as a qualified health benefits package, which carries certain minimum requirements. Then, it also sets up the exchange, in which there are four different plans to from.

The five year grace period for grandfathered employer-provided coverage plans only applies to the minimum requirements. After five years, if a plan does not meet those minimum requirements, it will have to be adjusted so that it does. If it already does, then there is no change. There is no "dumping" anyone into the exchange after five years.

I emailed the author about my problem, and haven't heard back.
